The Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) offers fully-funded scholarships for international students at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. These scholarships cover tuition, accommodation, and provide a monthly stipend, aimed at fostering cultural exchange and academic excellence.

Language Requirements for UMY Scholarship
- First, you need to meet the language requirements. You can prove your proficiency with IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, TOEIC. For undergraduate students, a B1 CEFR level is required. For master’s and doctoral students, a B2 CEFR level is needed.
- If you are from an English-speaking country or have previously studied in English, you may be eligible for an English proficiency waiver. You need to show an English Proficiency Waiver from your previous school. The waiver must be stamped and signed by a school authority.
Additional Entry Requirements
You will also need to provide the following documents:
- Undergraduate Students: High school certificate and academic transcript.
- Master’s Students: Undergraduate certificate and academic transcript.
- Doctoral Students: Master’s certificate and academic transcript.
- All Applicants: Passport, motivation letter, proof of English proficiency, two recommendation letters (for master’s and doctoral students), and a brief research proposal (for master’s and doctoral students).
Note: Documents must be in Indonesian or English. If they are in another language, you need to provide an authorized English translation.
Duration of Study
- Undergraduate Program: 4 years (8 semesters)
- Postgraduate Program: 2 years (4 semesters)
- Doctoral Program: 4 years
UMY Scholarship Benefits
1. Free Tuition and Living Costs: For the first year, scholarship covers your entire tuition fees and living expenses.
2. Continued Support Based on Your Grades: For remaining years your performance in your studies can help you maintain or even increase your scholarship benefits (https://internationaladmissions.umy.ac.id/)
3. Monthly Allowance: You will also receive a monthly allowance to help with your living expenses:
- Undergraduate Students: IDR 1,850,000 per month
- Master’s Students: IDR 2,350,000 per month
- Doctoral Students: IDR 2,600,000 per month
