Scholarship Details

  • Award Amount: $5,000, distributed in two installments of $2,500 over two quarters.
  • Eligibility: Full-time UW undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the UW Bothell, Seattle, or Tacoma campus. Note that existing scholarship recipients may face restrictions on receiving the full award amount if they already have funding for the same activities.

Mary Gates Leadership Scholarship 2024

All applications undergo thorough review by a committee that focuses on your leadership vision, learning objectives, and your detailed plan for achieving them. The process takes about 8 weeks, during which you can track your application’s status online. Notifications about the final decision will be sent to both students and mentors.

Commitment During the Scholarship

As a scholarship recipient, you are expected to:

  • Engage actively in your leadership project.
  • Maintain full-time enrollment (at least 12 credits during the year and one credit during the summer).
  • Complete brief surveys during your award period.
  • Present your work in the Spring quarter at a designated event.
  • Participate in additional activities and engage with the Mary Gates Scholars community.
