Who Can Apply Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship?

The NPGS is open to outstanding graduates or final-year students from any nationality, with a special preference for Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents. To be eligible, you must:

  • Have an Honours (Highest Distinction) degree or equivalent at the Bachelor’s level.
  • If still completing your undergraduate program, provide proof from your university that you’re on track to achieve a Honours (Highest Distinction) degree or its equivalent.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

The NPGS is exceptionally generous and comprehensive, aiming to provide you with a worry-free research experience:

  • Monthly Stipend: You will receive a substantial monthly stipend (S$3,500 to S$6,700, depending on your field and nationality). This stipend is set to increase in January 2024, especially for students in STEM and Computer Information Systems disciplines.
  • Other Allowances: The scholarship includes various allowances to support your academic journey, such as up to S$4,000 per financial year for conferences, a one-time IT allowance of S$1,500, a book allowance of S$500 annually, and a one-time thesis allowance of S$600.
  • No Bond: You are free to pursue your career goals without any bonding requirements after completing your PhD.
  • Duration and Renewal Flexibility: The award is initially granted for one year and can be renewed annually based on your progress. The maximum duration for the scholarship is four years.
