Supported by the Mastercard Foundation, this opportunity focuses on exploring the non-profit sector’s pivotal role in fostering economic growth across the continent, specifically through creating dignified and fulfilling work for young Africans.
Fellowship Benefits
This doctoral fellowship offers extensive support for up to five years to twenty selected candidates. If you are chosen, you will receive a fully funded fellowship, covering up to $30,000 per year in scholarship funds. This call is open exclusively to full-time Ph.D. students from 17 African countries including Burkina Faso, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and more.
As a fellow, your research will delve into the contributions of non-profit organizations to the economy, with a particular focus on employment for youth. You will collaborate closely with seasoned researchers and regional leads, gaining invaluable experience and insights into critical economic sectors.
Who Should Apply?
The fellowship is tailored for doctoral students who:
- Are currently enrolled in full-time relevant doctoral programs at African universities.
- Have a keen interest in the non-profit sector and its impact on African economies.
- Are committed to the full duration of the program and can work effectively in team settings.
- Are under 35 years of age and in the early stages of their doctoral journey.
Research Areas
You are encouraged to focus your research on fields such as Economics, Development Studies, Public Policy, and more, aligning with the theme of non-profit contributions to dignified and fulfilling employment.
