Eligibility for Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme
This program is open to:
- Students pursuing diplomas and degrees at Nigerian universities, whether public or private.
- Polytechnic students who have completed their first year.
- Post-National Diploma students from polytechnics looking for a one-year industrial placement.
How to Apply for Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme
- Register: Start by clicking ‘Register For SIWES’ here (https://www.nigerialng.com/Careers/Pages/SIWES-Training.aspx). Make sure to fill out all the fields marked with red asterisks, as these are mandatory.
- Set Up Your Login: Choose a username and a strong password for your account—ensure your password includes at least one uppercase letter and one numeral.
- Educational Details: Accurately fill in your educational information, starting with the most recent. If your grade does not apply, select ‘N/A’.
- Upload Documents: You’ll need to upload several documents including your SIWES letter from your school, a recent passport photograph, your school fees receipt, and your school ID card.
- Submit Your Application: After completing all the steps and attaching your documents, review your application, agree to the privacy statement, and submit your application.
Selection Process
Getting into SIWES is competitive. You will need to take and pass an assessment test, and placements are based on the program’s capacity and their current business needs.
Once selected, you’ll go through a comprehensive orientation to get you up to speed, followed by hands-on placement in departments that match your field of study. At the end of the SIWES program, you’ll return to your educational institution with valuable insights and experiences that will enhance both your academic performance and your future employability.
