As a fellow, you will spend six months at either the WBG headquarters in Washington D.C. or a country office, immersed in projects that focus on eliminating poverty and enhancing shared prosperity.
Who Can Apply for World Bank Group’s Africa Fellowship Program?
The fellowship is open to nationals of Sub-Saharan Africa who meet the following criteria:
- You must be a recent Ph.D. graduate (within three years of completion) or currently enrolled in the last year of a Ph.D. program.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- You must be 32 years old or younger by January 2025.

Here’s what happens after you apply:
- Phase I: A short-list of candidates will be selected for potential hiring by various WBG units, based on specialization and interest. You will be notified about your application status.
- Phase II: Final selections are made after consultations with WBG units. Shortlisted candidates will be informed about their selection status and, upon acceptance, will commence their fellowship in January 2025.
